Halloween time at the theme parks

100_0692It’s that time of year when most major theme parks around the country are scaring their patrons with haunted mazes, ghosts, goblins and other creatures roaming the walkways.  It’s a fun time of the year and one where parents can let the kids enjoy Halloween without worrying about the dangers that might lurk around the corner.

We’re lucky, here in central Virginia, to have two major theme parks within an hour drive.  While we’ve not yet made it to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, we have gone to Kings Dominion a couple of times to enjoy what they have to offer.  Kings Dominion’s Halloween Haunt is back for the tenth year and is better than ever.  Featuring seven ‘haunted mazes’ and many ‘scare zones’, Kings Dominion puts on a great show.  I think it might actually be better than Busch Gardens (which I prefer over KD) but, since we’ve not yet gone there, I have to base it on previous experience.  The Halloween Haunt at Kings Dominion runs through the end of October and the park is open from 7pm to 12 midnight on Fridays, 10:30am to 12 midnight on Saturdays and from 10:30am to 10pm on Sundays.  The haunt attractions open each night at 7pm, at which time the Kidzville and Nickelodeon areas close.  The park recommends that children under 12 not participate in the adult haunts.  Friday admission to the park is 31.99.

Here are some photos I took during our recent visits.
